Simple Guidelines for a Perfect Stay

Our Dog "Rules"

Only a few simple guidelines to help all our guests enjoy a relaxed, dog-friendly stay.

  • Up to two dogs, of any breed, are welcome.
  • Dogs are allowed on the sofa, using the cover provided. For the comfort of all our guests, dogs are not allowed on the bed.
  • Dogs must be supervised and kept under control while at the property, including in the garden, and particularly when there is livestock nearby.
  • Dogs may be left alone in the property, if crated.
  • Please pick up after your dog in the garden during your stay. On your departure day, please leave the cottage as you found it.

For peace of mind

Enclosed, private garden

The enclosed garden at Coed Llydan

The private, enclosed garden is thoughtfully balanced to be fully enclosed, while maximising views of the surrounding countryside for humans.

The fencing is a mixture of dry stone walls and stock fencing, with a minimum height of approximately 1.2 metres. Any hedging has stock fencing behind it.

For added peace of mind, we provide two secure tie-up points (by the hot tub and patio) along with a 5m long line—so you can unwind and enjoy the space safely.

A solid wooden gate separates the garden and driveway from the single track access road leading to the cottage, designed to minimise the visibility of any walkers or cars for dogs that may find these triggering.

The garden, while enclosed, is unlikely to be secure enough to suit escape artists or dogs with a high prey drive that may chase or harm livestock.

A rural landscape

Nearby livestock

While the field opposite Coed Llydan is predominantly used for haymaking, it is sometimes home to sheep and other livestock (particularly during Spring lambing). Please ensure your dog is under control and supervised, so they are not disturbed.

You can find more information about the fencing of the private, enclosed garden to ensure it’s suitable for your dog above.

If your dog struggles around livestock and wildlife when out adventuring, please be aware that fields, woodlands and mountainsides are grazed throughout the year across the Eryri National Park. This includes conservation grazing by less usual creatures, such as large cattle, wild goats and our stunning wild Carneddau ponies. Animals are often where you least expect them to be and our wild landscape enables surprisingly large creatures to stay hidden until the last minute! Please be aware of signage and that you may need to keep your dog on a lead more than you expect during your wilderness adventures.
